The days are long, the sun is strong and as we head into the autumn transition, our skin will be trying to play catch up! One of my favorite things to do on a Sunday evening when my skin is feeling particularly resistant to change is treat myself to a fresh face mask. This one is great after a long day out in the elements, after a workout or any time your skin is acting up with blemishes and excess oil. It's a gentle and effective soothing treatment that can be used weekly.
Healing & Calming Herbal Face Mask
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1 tablespoon dried lavender leaves
- 1 tablespoon rosemary leaves
- 1 tablespoon thyme leaves
- 5 drops tea tree oil
- fresh aloe vera
Preparation
Grind the oatmeal and herbs into a fine powder (we recommend using a coffee grinder, food processor or mortar and pestle if you've got one!). Mix the tea tree oil into the powder until it's well combined, then store the mixture in an airtight container.
When you're ready to use, scoop 1 teaspoon of the mixture into the palm of your hand and mix it with the juice of a fresh aloe leaf until a runny paste has formed. Apply it evenly to your face, neck and body. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes, then rinse clean and follow with your favorite moisturizer.
