Boost Your Immunity With This Vitamin C-Packed Smoothie

The winter season brings us the gentle fall of white, calming snow. It also comes with the not-so-peaceful cold and flu illnesses that can leave us down for the count on our couch without a whisper or a warming. Fortunately, we can help fight against diseases by eating a proper diet!
This smoothie is easy to make, and packed with vitamin C, an assortment of greens, protein sources, antioxidants (especially if you add in the cacao nibs) and just the right amount of sweetness. Unlike some thicker smoothies, this one's a bit closer to juice consistency when blended well, thanks to the kale, pineapple, helping to keep you well hydrated.
Stay happy, stay healthy, live well, and enjoy!
Vitamin C and G (for "Green") Smoothie:
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- 1 cup pineapple
- 2 handfuls of kale
- 1/2 scoop protein powder
- 1 tsp. maca powder
- 1 tsp. spirulina
- 1 Tbsp. hemp hearts
- 1-2 cups water
Optional
- 1 tsp. wheatgrass powder
- 1 tsp. matcha green tea
- 1 tsp. cacao nibs (few to sprinkle on top after)
Directions
Combine all ingredients and blend in a high-powered blender (Vitamix, or similar option). Serve and drink immediately, or refrigerate in an airtight container (Mason jars are my favorite go-to containers) for up to 24 hours. Makes 1-2 servings.
