Are Mushrooms the New Plastic?

Contrary to the famous line in the film The Graduate, there's not a great future in plastics; however, there is a great future in mushrooms.

Like many of us, Eben Mayer isn't a big fan of plastics and their environmental impact. He even calls Styrofoam "toxic white stuff" and says it represents 25 percent of our natural landfills! But he has a solution: mushrooms.

According to Eben, there is a great future in mushrooms when it comes to packaging and materials. He explains in this nine-minute video:
