The Ultimate Anti-Hangover Green Smoothie

Written by Krystelle Fournier

Did you celebrate a bit too much during the holidays? It might be a good idea to give your digestive system a little rest and help your body to alkalize and detoxify. One of the easiest and simplest things you can do is to start your day with something that is alkaline, detoxifying, very nourishing, easy to digest, and easy to make. And this green smoothie is all that, and it’s easy to make and tastes surprisingly delicious!

The base of this smoothie is filtered water, but you could also use cold herbal tea to benefit from specific herbs. Cucumbers and lemons promote alkalinity in the body; avocado provides healthy fats, proteins and fibers; frozen mangoes gives beta-carotene, as well as bringing some natural sweetness and creaminess to the smoothie; raw honey is optional, but beginners may appreciate it. Coconut oil is extremely nourishing and will help to balance blood sugar, just as cinnamon will. Ginger helps to reduce motion sickness and inflammation in the gut. Unprocessed sea salt will add extra minerals and trace elements to the smoothie, and the greens will help to alkalize and detoxify the body even more, as well as provide quality vitamins and minerals.

Enjoy and cheers to your health!

Servings: 1

  • ½ cup filtered water, or cold herbal tea
