5 Questions That Will Transform You

I have my dream job. Too few people can say that, but I humbly can. Over the past two years, I've been traveling the country introducing people to real food, helping them learn to exercise, examining their DNA, ripping apart their kitchens, and all kinds of other really cool stuff.

Through it all, I've come to realize that one of the biggest obstacles preventing people from achieving a transformation is their failure to answer one simple question: "Why?"

"Why do I want it?"

Too many people float through life with no rhyme or reason as to what they hope a transformation will do for them. They might know "what" they want, but they often don't know why they want it.

It's painful for many people, but I'm here to tell you, it doesn't have to be. Here's the deal. The leading motivation that will fuel your transformation is your answer to one simple question.

"Why do I want it?"

It's crucial that you know the answer. Treat it like it's your best friend. Keep feeding it. This is the most important thing, because when you don’t feel like eating healthy or working out, your answer will remind you why you started in the first place. Often, it's all the motivation you need to complete your transformation.

Maybe your answer is one of vanity; you want to look sexy in your bathing suit. (It's okay if that’s the case. At least you're being honest.)

Maybe you want more energy to keep up with your kids or loved ones.

Or maybe you aspire to more success at work, in a relationship, or in other endeavors, and you feel your waning health is the thing that's been holding you back. Obviously, you're visiting MindBodyGreen for a reason. You want to be healthier. Or lose weight. Or age gracefully. Or just hang with like-minded people. Hey, it's better than watching the news. Right?

But ask yourself honestly.

"Why do I want it?"

I'd like to help you identify your answer by first asking these five questions.

1.) Why do you want to get healthy or stay healthy?

2.) What will you look like after the first 90 days?

3.) What would you want to feel like in 90 days?

4.) What will others say about you after your transformation?

5.) What do you want your legacy to be?

Those might seem like big questions. They are. This is my first post with MBG, and as I write to people who are intent on challenging themselves physically, I think it's important that I first challenge you mentally. Because it is there, mentally, where a transformation begins and ends.

I could have simply posted one of the many juice recipes from my recipe books. Or I could have tossed out some textbook exercises designed to tighten your tummy.

Instead, I wanted to get your brains working, to begin the process of helping you understand that you can get whatever you want in this life if you ask the right questions.

"Why do I want it?"

Your transformation begins now.
