Love. It's one of the top reasons clients reach out to me for feng shui guidance. As an expert with over 20 years of experience, it brings me great joy to help my clients dig deep and embrace the love they seek. Beyond the mainstream advice of buying matching nightstands, I love sharing the powerful insights that have helped me to cultivate a genuinely happy marriage in my own life for the past 21 years.

Whether you're searching for the love of your life, looking to reignite the spark in your existing relationship, or just hoping to enhance the most important relationship of all (the one you have with yourself!), these five tried-and-true feng shui tips can help. It's time to tap into 4,000 years of deep wisdom and experience to craft your own version of happily ever after!

1. Make space in the home and in the heart.

Your mindset is just as important as your outward expression. So start by parting with symbols of failed relationships (i.e., old love letters or those divorce papers in the basement) and sort through any physical clutter in your bedroom and closet that is keeping you from moving forward. Create physical and emotional space for your partner (or potential partner) to feel at home.

2. Foster intimacy and receptivity.

Feng shui philosophy is centered around nine guas, or areas of life. These describe the things that we need to feel whole (i.e., fame and reputation, love and marriage, creativity and children, and wealth and prosperity). Reciprocity and mutual respect feed the "fame" life area of feng shui, and it's crucial to harness these in your relationship. Focus and listen to your partner without distraction. Invest your energy into planning date nights and thoughtful acts that express your appreciation. The grass is greener where it's watered!

3. Decide to grow together.

The nine guas are arranged in a three-by-three grid. On this map, knowledge and self-cultivation lie opposite the love and marriage category, meaning that these two guas have harmonious energy. Gaining knowledge of your own self will allow you to grow alongside your partner. Self-love and self-care raise your personal vibration, which nourishes the relationship too.

4. Think of the master bedroom as a 3-D vision board.

According to feng shui, your bedroom is the ultimate symbol of the health of your relationship. Create a peaceful sanctuary dedicated to relaxation and romance. What is romantic to you? Use the five senses to create a love den with cozy bedding, candlelight, and art that conveys a happy union. Remove distractions like laundry, work, exercise equipment, and TVs, replacing them with rose quartz crystals, matching lamps with flattering light, sultry tunes, and reminders of the love-filled life you two are creating together.

5. Make your decor more intentional.

The position of these guas on the grid correspond with their location in the home, which is where the design element of feng shui comes into play. Adding fire elements like candles to the area that corresponds to the love gua in your bedroom (back right third of the room, when standing at the front door looking in), will enhance the generosity, passion, joy, and laughter in your relationship, while earth element like ceramics and pottery will help you feel grounded, compassionate, and connected.
