How To Know If You're Living In Alignment With Your Soul's Desires
We too often misinterpret what it means to live a life filled with passion and purpose. Of course, in a major way, we have society to blame for this. Once we acknowledge it, though, and start to question our motivations, the only person we have to hold accountable for our actions is ourselves.
With each passing day, more and more individuals are awakening and seeking “enlightenment.” When you reach this state, all that you do stems from your inner essence and passion flows through you. You are vibrant. Your energy changes everything around you for the better, and you begin to serve a much greater purpose than you're likely to ever realize. Sometimes, though, a person gets lost on the path to their destiny. So, how can you ever truly know if you are living in alignment with your soul’s desires?
The first sign is simple: you're no longer constantly stressed about the future. When you're living with passion and purpose and you're driven by the energy of the universe, you cease to have a rigid timeline of your future mapped out. You no longer have much of a life plan; instead, you become life’s plan. You don't have some far-off goal to reach in life. Instead, you are life’s goal. You're content with just being in the here and now.
On the other hand, the more you try to find your true self at a soul level through external things or through thoughts of the past or the future, the further you get from it. You begin working from a soul level when, and only when, you surrender to the essence of the universe and its purpose, which is found in the present moment.
The second sign may be more of an internal process: you almost seem, and often times feel, possessed by something within that is driving you toward a certain direction in life. The truth is that you're freer than ever before. You're no longer possessed by the ego, which is so deceptive that it makes the work of the soul out to be irrational, a delusion best avoided.
But what could be more delusional and irrational than denying yourself a life fully lived and hiding your inner self, solely to be able to say, “I was successful in life because I pleased society and sacrificed my selfish desires to do so” when you're on your deathbed? Denying the universe the opportunity to do its work through you is the truly selfish act. In reality, you begin to meet yourself at a soul level when you listen to your intuition rather than the ideas you've been conditioned to believe. It is then that you begin to live a life filled with passion and purpose.
People often say that focusing on your internal desires is selfish, and that you should worry more about others than yourself. What they are referring to is a kind of inner desire stemming from the ego’s driven desires accumulated by the excessive need to be accepted and acknowledged by the external world.
What I am talking about is something entirely different. I'm not talking about inner desire, or about wanting anything at all, really. I'm talking about inner reflection. Until you truly meet and connect with yourself at a soul level, you lack the ability to fully love yourself, and thus are unable to deeply love other people and the world around you.
You cannot change the world for the better until you change yourself for the better; and to change yourself for the better you have to live a life filled with passion and purpose, which can only be achieved by living in the present moment.
