Leah Johansen, M.D.

Board-certified family medicine physician

Leah Johansen, M.D., is a board-certified family medicine physician who specializes in functional medicine. Dr. Johansen earned her medical degree from Trinity School of Medicine and completed her residency training in family and community medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 2019. She is currently undergoing Functional Medicine certified practitioner pathway by the Institute of Functional Medicine.

Dr. Johansen grew up in a rural town in northern Minnesota. She has always had an adventurous spirit and traveled to Thailand, Vietnam, Switzerland, Guatemala, Bolivia, Argentina, and throughout the United States. Prior to becoming a physician, Dr. Johansen worked as a sports massage therapist working with NFL rookies. She is also an ultra-runner and backcountry snowboarder constantly researching ways to biohack performance.

Dr. Johansen uses the Functional Medicine integrated model of understanding and addressing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of healing people and reversing disease. She individualizes her care and utilizes her inner zen to help her patients discover and heal the root cause of disease and optimize performance. She currently sees patients alongside Robert Rountree, M.D., at Boulder Wellcare in Boulder, Colorado.
