How To Organize Your Life Using The 9 Principles Of Feng Shui
We all want new beginnings, new motivations, new ways of thinking, more money, more muscle, less weight, better jobs. But most of these resolutions highlight the end goal (whether quantifiable or unquantifiable) and do not necessarily give you tools necessary to get there.
I never ever hear anyone talk about how, specifically, they are going to keep their resolutions. We don't lack motivation. We lack a system that works. So I suggest that we change our approach and allow feng shui principles to guide us toward a more fulfilling life.
How you can use feng shui to achieve your goals:
1. Set your affirmations.
Write down nine affirmations that correspond with the feng shui areas of your home. As a feng shui consultant, I've seen this practice work wonders for my clients; it really helps keep them on track.
Your affirmations should relate to the nine guas, or the areas of life named in feng shui philosophy. These manifest in different parts of the home, and you can calculate where they lie in your space using this Bagua map.
- Career & Life Path
- Knowledge & Self-Cultivation
- Fame & Reputation
- Love & Marriage
- Children & Creativity
- Mentors & Outside Contacts
- Health & Center
So, if you're looking to write an affirmation for the career gua that inspires you to chase a new job, it could look write, "Numerous job opportunities come to me and I intuitively seize the best one without fear or hesitation." And if you're focusing on the children gua, you could write, "I am patient with my children and always find a way to resolve conflict without hurting their feelings."
In writing these more specific affirmations, you are reaffirming your commitment to change and talking about it like it's already happening. You are illuminating a path toward transformation.
2. Recruit some guidance.
Pair your affirmations with one inspirational, meaningful quote you can refer to throughout the year. It should relate to your affirmations and inspire you but not nag you. A quote conveys the idea of endless possibility whereas a resolution is just a yes or no proposition. Place the quote somewhere prominent in your home so that you can check in with its power every day.
I chose this Goethe quote for the new year: "Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic and power in it. Begin it now." This has a lot to do with my career and it also reminds me of the importance to follow through, work hard, surmount obstacles and accept any outcomes. It also reminds me of the magic of creation. I am trusting myself more each time I read the quote, and it continues to lift my spirits every day.
