This 2-Ingredient Energy Drink Uses Pantry Staples To Basically Turn You Into Superwoman
If you've been stockpiling honey for hot toddies and natural cough suppressants to get you through the winter, you're in luck—there's much more you can do with the miracle liquid. "Honey has been used as a food, medicine, and more by cultures all over the world for at least the last 8,000 years," writes Hannah Coughlin in her new book, The Goodness of Honey. It's antibacterial, antiviral, and a potent inflammation fighter—plus, according to Coughlin, it's the perfect base for an instant healthy energy drink.
She explains, "Honey can provide energy within seven minutes, according to research on athletes. It also provides a slow-burn effect that produces great stamina and endurance. The free fructose and glucose sugars in honey restore brain activity constantly, thus reducing or eliminating fatigue at times of our greatest physical and mental need." She recommends using the drink to kick-start your morning routine or to stave off an afternoon slump.
