If you're anything like me, one of your favorite Christmas memories is cracking a chocolate orange against a table, then ripping off the gold foil to reveal the now-wedged slices inside. While we support indulging your body and soul over the holidays, the Christmas classic isn't exactly keto-compliant. The keto diet has been lauded for its many benefits, but it promotes high-fat, low-sugar foods to send the body into a state of ketogenesis. Doing keto this Christmas and don't want to miss out?

We have you covered. These Chocolate Orange Fat bombs, excerpted from Keto Snacks by Lindsay Boyer, will bring you back to the orb-cracking days of your childhood, but they're fully keto, with two types of healthy fat (yes, including butter, which is functional-doctor-approved) and polyphenol-rich cocoa powder. Store 'em in your fridge or freezer for a sweet, creamy bite whenever you want a treat.

Chocolate Orange Fat Bombs

Serves 12

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract

Method

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until melted and smooth.
  2. Pour into a 12-cup silicone mold and place into the freezer until hardened, about 30 minutes.
  3. Store in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
