Karen Shaw Becker, DVM takes a deliberate, common-sense approach to create vibrant health for companion animals. She received her degree in veterinary medicine from the Iowa State School of Veterinary Medicine, and completed exotic animal internships in California and at the Berlin Zoo, Germany. She is certified in animal acupuncture, homeopathy and rehabilitation (physical therapy for pets). She is the co-author of THE FOREVER DOG: Surprising New Science to Help Your Canine Companion Live Younger, Healthier, and Longer.

Becker has spent her career as a small animal clinician, empowering animal guardians to make intentional lifestyle decisions to enhance the wellbeing of their animals. She also writes and lectures extensively and serves as a wellness consultant for a variety of health-oriented organizations. She is the first veterinarian to give a TEDx talk on species appropriate nutrition, which has been a lifelong passion of hers.
