I love making smoothies. I love berries. And I love Iceland. That’s a whole lotta love :)

In great honor of our upcoming Yoga Adventure Retreat in Iceland this September, I’ve put together a superfood smoothie recipe that brings it all together. Late August into September is high time for wild berry picking in Iceland: blueberries, bilberries, crowberries, brambleberries and wild strawberries. Mmmmm. My personal fave is blueberries because they taste amazing, are naturally sweet, are packed with antioxidant power, and have a ton of Vitamin C. Whether you join us on this adventure and harvest wild berries with us, or go to your local farmers market, this smoothie is an amazing meal or snack that will fill you up with nutrients and energy.

Blueberry Superfood Smoothie Bliss:

Get This:

  • big handful frozen or fresh organic wild blueberries
  • ½ or whole banana (I peel and freeze bananas so they are ready to grab and add a nice froth)
  • 1 Tbsp extra-virgin coconut oil
  • 1 Tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • splash of cinnamon (cardamom also nice!)
  • your favorite liquid: hemp milk, almond milk, oat milk, or grass-fed high quality dairy, or spring water as your base.
  • optional sweetener of your choice: stevia to taste {stevia is great if you are off of sugar yet has a strong taste. Start with a small amount}, 1-2 tsps grade B maple syrup, OR 1 Tbsp raw local honey.

Do This:

  • put all ingredients into a blender or Vitamix
  • blend until creamy
  • pour into your favorite mug or glass (I love mason jars!)
  • drink slow and indulge!
  • Feel great!
