6 Of The Best Nontoxic Polishes For A Flash Of Fun This July Fourth
Happy Fourth of July, everybody! One of the great things about this holiday is how minimal of a beauty routine it requires, save for some safe SPF. Maybe you're at a pool party and skipped a hairstyle since you're getting wet anyway. Maybe it's just too hot to bother with makeup.
But there is one add-on that feels appropriate for the holiday: One of my favorite traditions I've kept up since I was young is to add a little holiday-appropriate flare on my nails. As a kid, this meant my friends and I would DIY a manicure the morning of with sparkly red, white, and blue polish—as we got older, we graduated to nail art designs of fireworks and flags. Today, I skip then nail art but not necessarily the sparkles or fun. Normally I keep a bare nail, so indulging myself with a bold polish every so often just seems right.

A cobalt blue is just magnetizing: It's equal parts electric, snappy, and deep. And this is perhaps the best cobalt blue I've ever seen in a nontoxic option. However, it is perhaps not as wearable for most people's day-to-day—but I guarantee you'll have trouble taking it off it's so pretty.

Part of Los Angeles–based nail salon Olive & June's summer collection, this is the fresh, crisp white polish you never knew you needed. White polish tends to look like Wite-Out on the nails, but this is just soft enough to avoid that issue.

As perhaps the largest, and most well-known, natural and nontoxic nail care brand, you know Zoya will deliver dazzling and enviable polishes every season. This ruby-slipper-sparkle red is no exception.

This has a darker, more sophisticated finish than you might expect from a sparkly blue polish—so it's safe for those who want to be playful but not go overboard.

This dazzling silver option just feels like fireworks. The flecks are holographic and vary in size, so when worn it is light-catching and dynamic. Wear it over bare nails or as a topper for your favorite hue.
