Summer Rayne Oakes has taken an unlikely career path, having parlayed her background in environmental science and entomology from Cornell University with a successful career as a fashion model. Most recently she launched SugarDetox.Me—a free step-by-step sugar detox plan—and will be releasing her first cookbook on the topic in Spring 2017 with Sterling Publishing. She is deeply passionate about helping people find healthier everyday choices and works closely with organizations like Good Eggs, a farm-to-fridge grocery delivery service, and The Foodstand—an app connecting the good eating community together. Over the last seven years she has co-authored the book, Style, Naturally, co-founded the award-winning materials marketplace Source4Style (now called Le Souk), served as a correspondent on Discovery Networks, and has designed environmentally-preferable collections with Payless, Portico and Modo eyewear. She is an avid interior gardener and lives in Brooklyn with her myriad plants.
