Pete Balistreri, a first generation Sicilian-American and San Diego native, was born and raised in the close-knit community of Point Loma. He graduated from SDSU with a degree in graphic design, and attended the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. He soon went on to apprentice in some of the city's top kitchens, including Rose Pistola, Masa's, Union Squares Pan Pacific Hotel, One Pico at Shutters on the Beach and The Lodge at Torrey Pines. Following three years at The Lodge, Balistreri joined Tender Greens and opened the San Diego location in June 2008 as Executive Chef.
