After years of playing competitive sports left Michael Simpson with chronic lower back and knee pain, Michael came into his first down dog in November of 2012. Prior to this, Michael was drawn to the Bikram style as it helped to lengthen, strengthen, and heal his lower back. Over time, however, Michael found his true calling in Vinyasa flow, falling in love with the practice of moving meditation to let go of the way things aren't, and appreciate the way things are. Michael completed his 200 hour certification in the fall of 2014, under the guidance of Julie Gurevich and Heather Sheridan, and has been teaching ever since. He's currently a teacher at POE Yoga. He is eternally grateful to Julie & Heather, Shelley Some, MJ Turnbull and Emma Kealy for their constant support. He is inspired by the teachings of these individuals through utilization of challenging yet simplistic sequences. He seeks to infuse his class with passion, good music and, most importantly, humor! His class is designed to be accessible to all levels of yogi with a heavy emphasis on safe and proper alignment, and incorporation of the breath. Lastly, he encourages his students to overcome their fears, open their hearts, and slowly peel away the layers of the ego. In doing so, students will let go of all the could've's, should've's, and would've's, finding contentment with their practice and lives in this moment—the present moment. "You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and stars, and you have a right to be here."
