Jean Kristeller

Jean Kristeller is a professor emerita of psychology at Indiana State University and the creator of the NIH-funded Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT). She is the author of The Joy of Half a Cookie: Using Mindfulness to Lose Weight and End the Struggle with Food. Her work has been featured in Self, Redbook, NPR’s The Salt, The Boston Globe, and The Baltimore Sun among many others. She received her masters degree in clinical and human psychophysiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978 and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis in clinical health psychology from Yale University in 1983. She completed post-doctoral training in eating disorders at McClean Hospital and in Behavioral Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Prior to her role at ISU, she was a member of the staff and faculty in the behavioral medicine services at Cambridge Hospital (Harvard Medical School) and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
