Here's The Best Time Of Day To Exercise Based On Your Zodiac Sign

There's no time of a day I love more than the morning. Unless it's really early, I typically find that the early hours of the day are when my mind is the sharpest, and as I sip on a steaming mug of coffee, the air seems to buzz with possibility. I've spent years thinking I should harness this unique energy into morning workouts, but that's never seemed to work for me. My body resists morning exercise like nothing else.

Why? I'm a Scorpio. We Scorpios are fierce, passionate water signs, and our workouts are much better suited for nighttime. Figuring this out about myself was a light bulb moment, and once I did, my workouts became stronger and more meaningful.

To find out more about this phenomenon, I called on astrologer Ophira Edut, who represents one half of dynamic astrology duo The AstroTwins. Here's what she had to say about what time of day you should exercise based on your zodiac sign.

Air signs: First thing in the morning.

If you're a Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius, you're an air sign. You'll find that you get the most joy and energy out of movement first thing in the morning, when the rest of the world is still sleeping or rushing off to work. "Air signs love to start the day with a burst of endorphin-fueled excitement. These signs can benefit the most from a morning workout because they’ll carry the intellectual and creative energy through the day," explains Ophira.

Fire signs: Midday.

If you're an Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius, you're a fire sign. Fire signs thrive on heat, so if you're a student or you can find a way to slip out in the middle of the workday, make it happen. "Fire signs tend to have bursts of concentrated energy and emotions that build up," says Ophira. "A lunchtime or after-work exercise program will help you burn the pent-up aggression or sedentary vibes."

Earth signs: Any time, as long as it's consistent.

If you're a Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn, you're an earth sign. You have a pragmatic nature, so consistency is key for you. "Creatures of habit, doesn’t matter so much when you exercise as that you do it at a consistent time," explains Ophira. "But earth energy can get stagnant, so a midday routine can help you break out of a mental and energetic rut. Take a brisk walk around 3 p.m. when the brain tends to perform more sluggishly."

Water signs: After sunset.

If you're a Scorpio, Cancer, or Pisces, you're a water sign. When it comes to exercise, darkness is your best friend. "Since these receptive signs are emotional sponges, they absorb a lot of people’s energy during the day. An evening yoga or exercise class will help them shake off any moody blues and help you sleep more soundly," says Ophira.
