The Fridge Essentials mbg's Co-Founders Can't Live Without

Jason and Colleen Wachob's apartment in Dumbo, Brooklyn, is a bright embodiment of the mindbodygreen brand, complete with gratitude-inducing artwork, houseplants at every turn, and a fridge stocked with superfoods.

Since mbg's co-founders don't have much time between running a business and caring for their 13-month-old daughter, Ellie, they aim to make healthy foods as accessible as possible in their kitchen. This means keeping snacks on hand that can quickly satisfy their tastes; Colleen and Jason eat largely plant-based, and when they eat meat and seafood, they are very conscious about eating wild fish, grass-fed meat, and humanely raised chicken and eggs.

"We have our routines. I always do coffee, and Colleen will usually make dinner," Jason says. Every morning he makes Bulletproof-inspired coffee with a base of fresh-ground beans from favorite Stumptown and tops it with a mix of MCT oil and Fourth & Heart grass-fed ghee. A big intermittent faster, he finds that this brew keeps him full until lunch, when he'll whip up his go-to green smoothie: almond milk, Dr. Frank Lipman's whey protein, avocado, nut butter, coconut oil, and a bunch of frozen spinach or kale.

"Frozen vegetables are more manageable. We travel a lot, and it's not always realistic to stop by the farmers market every week," Jason explains, Vitamix whirring in the background. He adds that buying frozen fruits and veggies tends to be cheaper and helps them vastly cut down on food waste in the kitchen.

For Colleen, breakfast looks more like coffee or tea mixed with nondairy milk alternatives like Ripple, made from pea protein (their rich chocolate flavor speaks to her sweet tooth), Califia Farms creamer, and Malk's super-smooth pecan milks. When she's on the go in the morning, she'll grab a REBBL superfood elixir, KeVita sparkling probiotic, or Evolution Fresh green juice to sneak in nutrients quick. She'll pair it with an almond milk yogurt from Kite Hill topped with Purely Elizabeth granola for some crunch.

After a busy day in mbg's headquarters a stone's throw away, they'll either explore Dumbo's burgeoning health food scene or prep a quick meal at home. If they're not at Sweetgreen, Taco Dumbo, or Gran Electrica, you can probably find them whipping up a veggie-heavy plate with some humanely raised meat for Jason and eggs for Colleen. The wellness duo also recently started growing their own little indoor herb garden of rosemary, mint, and oregano for some garnish. Ellie is already sneaking in her plants too! She usually isn't far from the organic greens blends from Plum Organics—or just a mashed-up avocado. Hey, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

For dessert, the family has been known to indulge in UNREAL's healthier candies (the dark chocolate crispy peanut butter cups are a unanimous favorite), Justin's chocolate hazelnut spread, Smash Mallow's cleaner line of sweets, or a glass of Dry Farm organic, natural wine every now and then. Then, it's time to wind down with a piping-hot glass of Yogi tea or a Reishi mushroom elixir from Four Sigmatic. For them, crafting a nightly drink ritual is one of the quickest, easiest ways to relax, de-stress, and ground themselves for a restful night's sleep.
