Brain-Boosting Green Tea & Kiwi Smoothie

Your brain does so much for you, so why not do a little something in return? Your brain will love this green tea and kiwi smoothie that's packed with antioxidants and other brain-healthy nutrients.

Ingredients:

I recommend using organic ingredients whenever possible

  • 1 cup almond milk (unsweetened)
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 kiwi (peeled, sliced and frozen)
  • ¼ banana (frozen)
  • 1 tbsp lucuma powder
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • ½ tsp matcha powder
  • ½ cup cold filtered water

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy immediately. Makes 1 serving.

Spinach

Your brain loves green leafy vegetables! Especially the dark ones like spinach. This glorious green is jam-packed with antioxidants, which help prevent the negative effects of oxidation on the brain.

Green Tea (Matcha Powder)

Studies have shown that green tea consumption may help protect brain cells. In fact, one study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that higher consumption of green tea was associated with a lower prevalence of cognitive impairment.

Kiwi and chia

Kiwi fruit and chia seed both contain omega-3 fatty acids. Research shows that omega-3s help improve the health of brain cell membranes. Kiwi and chia seed also contain fiber, so they’ll keep you feeling full and satisfied.

Lucuma powder

Lucuma powder is a natural sweetener made from the lucuma fruit. It’s low on the glycemic index, so it won’t make your blood sugar spike. Consuming high-glycemic food that makes your blood sugar spike causes inflammation, which is bad for your brain.
