The Key To Not Acting Like A Hormonal Nightmare
We women go through something we love to complain about: hormonal mood swings.
It starts with our periods. We get crampy, bloated, angry at anything and everyone, we MUST HAVE CHOCOLATE — you don't want to cross our paths.
Then we have babies. Our husbands or partners suffer through our acting like crazy women, praying there will be an end. Unless, of course, we're blessed with the ultimate nightmare: postpartum depression. Yes, its real.
The only positive around that time of our lives, besides the new baby, is the fact that we are NOT menstruating. Between the pregnancy and time it took to get back on track, I had a good two years of freedom. Then, on my little one's first birthday, I went to the bathroom and received my surprise gift. Welcome back. Didn't miss you. Are you sure you want to stay?
Although I'm not quite there yet, the next stage happens in our late 40s or early to mid 50s. It’s called menopause. Oh yeah. The night sweats. Mood swings. Lack of sleep. And a metabolism that doesn’t want to move anymore.
It's a time in our lives during which we shed our youth and change hormonally.
We may feel emotionally out of control. If we didn't already.
So what do you do? Pop pills? Ingest hormones? Suffer like a momma who doesn't deserve it?
Doctors can prescribe all sorts of antidotes, but it doesn’t mean they're going to work. Plus, you know how I feel about prescription meds. Lots of pharmaceutical companies are making money, but none of us are feeling any better. You’ll need another med for the side effect of the first medication, then a third med for the side effect of the first side effect. Soon you’re taking meds for conditions that are WAY worse than your original ailment.
