I was doing a life coaching session yesterday, helping a client who felt stuck and unhappy, even though things appear to be flowing in his life.
He spends most of his time working a job to pay the bills. It doesn't give him a deep sense of satisfaction, and so he feels frustrated and unhappy. Do you ever feel that uneasy, discontented feeling? It's most likely your spirit (or your soul or your higher self) trying to tell you something.
You would not be on planet Earth right now if there was not a purpose for you.
We're all here for a reason and sometimes it takes us quite a while to figure out what that is. That's why it's so important to pay attention to your feelings, especially those not-so-easy to pinpoint ones.
You may be saying, but everything in my life is good, I have a lot to be grateful for, so what's my problem? The problem is that your soul is shouting out very loudly at you saying, HEY, WE HAVE THINGS TO DO HERE AND YOU SEEM TO BE IGNORING ME, PAY ATTENTION! I know because it happened to me.
Three years ago, when I was cocktail waitress at a high end restaurant in Beverly Hills, I was living in so much fear. Fear that if I quit my job I would never make any money teaching yoga and that I'd end up homeless on the streets of LA. That fear kept me stuck for years in a job where I felt miserable.
Then one night I had a terrible dream that my manager was shooting me. He said, “Just sit up, I have to shoot you 22 times.” What struck me when I woke up was that 22 is a master spiritual number. I knew then that my soul was screaming very loudly to GET OUT OF THERE. I was dying inside.
The next day I gave my two weeks' notice and never looked back.
I'd be lying if I said I did not struggle and not make any money for quite some time. However, now my business is flourishing and growing everyday. My mantra back then was: Leap and the net will appear. My client has been experiencing similar feelings. I asked him to think of a time when he felt so expanded, accomplished and when his soul felt free. He could pinpoint the time exactly: when he had given a toast at a wedding in front of hundreds of people.
He had captured their attention and made them laugh. He did so well that the bride asked him to give another toast in front of 2,500 people and the same thing happened. He felt so expanded connecting with that audience and the feeling stuck with him. I asked him to remember what that feeling felt like, when he was up there and had captured the audience, made them laugh, and feel good. I then asked him to feel that feeling again in his body. I asked him to do this about 3 to 5 times a day for a week, because this will help him connect to his spirit. Our spirit only knows joyful thoughts and feelings, it's our human mind that gets caught up in the frustration. Tuning into a time when you have felt the most expanded and right in the flow will be the key to unlocking your happiness, because it's the key to what you're supposed to be doing while here on Earth.
