Ron Finley lives in South Central Los Angeles, a neighborhood rife with liquor stores, fast food chains, and vacant lots. Dismayed by his community's high obesity rates, and the fact that "dialysis centers were popping up like Starbucks," he decided to create the change he wanted to see.

Finley planted a community garden across the street from his house, growing the fruits and vegetables he wanted to eat. This sparked a local movement to turn abandoned land into edible turf. Finley's 10-minute talk is one of the most inspiring videos we've seen this week.
