Intuitive eating is so helpful to recover from any kind of eating issues. From chronic dieting to emotional eating or bulimia, intuitive eating principles are essential to being able to eat in a balanced and healthy way. But what is intuitive eating? You might have heard the term without exactly knowing what it is.
Intuitive eating is based on one main belief: your body knows better than your mind what’s good for you.
And this is true for so many things. For example, your heart never misses a beat, you never forget to breathe and your temperature is always maintained.
Regarding our eating behaviors however, it’s pretty rare to let our body decide what’s good for us. This makes sense when you know that we're surrounded by new diets and messages about food, what’s good for us and what’s not. As a result, most of us have lost this connection to our deep internal feelings when it comes to food.
Many of us eat because it’s time, to socialize or maybe when we are bored. We eat foods we think are good for us, even if we don’t really enjoy them. But have you already stopped and asked yourself, am I really hungry? What do I really want to eat? What do I feel like eating now?
