2001: A Space Odyssey meets modern day weight loss. Move over Hal, meet Autom -- a "sociable" robot that helps track your meals and exercise, offers personalized encouragement and even weight loss advice.

The robot hails from Hong Kong company Automata and is slated to hit America in December for $400 to $500. Here's a video introduction from the company. What do you think? Would you buy Autom?
