What are you dressing up as this Halloween? And what does your choice say about the real you?
Is your costume funny? Scary? Slutty? Down right weird?
This year I decided to be a gypsy. I didn't give it much thought, just woke up one day last week and knew that was my choice.
For some reason, I felt drawn to the idea. The really nice part is I had almost everything in my closet to make it happen, and didn't have to schlep around for items or spend a lot of money. But I must admit, I thought to myself, What does this mean? and Why do I want to dress up like a gypsy?
I think this gypsy costume symbolizes my lust for life and a yearning for travel and adventure. There is a part of me that will not be fully satisfied until I do!
And this is quite a challenge, being a wife and mother of a young child. But if I had things my way, I'd probably live on a boat with my family and travel the world, embracing new cultures and ways of life...trying new things.
Today there are so many costumes available for sale. One especially caught my eye. It reminds me of the Blue-Man Group, but comes in many colors and patterns. It covers the whole body and face as well--like a full body suit including the head!
What does this mean...to become just a silhouette, so no one knows who you are, but the shape of your body and your gender is clear? There is something intriguing about that, a body without a face.
Does your costume fulfill a fantasy? Are you dressing up as someone who you would like to be to, but don’t want anyone to know about?
Are you hiding from the real you? In costume, you are not afraid to go outside your limits, and Halloween is the perfect excuse. It is a hall pass to show your naughty side. To be a character, one you play in your dreams.
Are you just one funny dude or dude-ette who likes to make people laugh, and be the life of the party? Is the real you a stand-up, hidden behind a suit in everyday life?
Or is Halloween a nuisance, and the thought of getting out of your everyday routine takes you completely out of your comfort zone? This holiday (if we can call it that) certainly is a tell-all about our personalities. Think about it. If a scary costume appeals to you, is there a side of your personality that thrives on intimidation? If you get all sexed-up for Halloween, is there a part of you that wants to be recognized, or be a little more adventurous in bed?
Who do you want to be? Maybe your decision is a peek in to your own freedom, or the you you didn't know existed...
Happy Halloween! Have fun with it. It’s one night to let loose and be your fantasy. Trick or treat?
