We are a species that has lost its way. The majority of the people in this world are living in a way that simply doesn't make sense. Here's how we can turn things around to begin living a life that is filled with wellbeing, meaning and fulfillment -- a life that does make sense.

What doesn't make sense:

Constantly thinking about the failures of your past and the anxieties of your future.

These thoughts will cause you stress, fear, worry, anxiety, anger and resentment -- they only hurt you.

What does makes sense:

Focusing on the beauty of the present moment.

Rather than continually resisting everything and searching for things to complain about, accept the greatness of the world that surrounds you and find pleasure in the little things.

Within every single moment lies a gift for us to discover, and when we are present we can take what the moment provides us with, whereas when we aren't present we miss out on that beauty.
If you're not in the present moment you are never fully here, you are never fully living because you are always trying to get 'somewhere'. The energy that you give to the present moment determines the quality of your future.

There is no such thing as an ordinary or mundane moment; every moment holds beauty, joy and energy for those who connect with it. The present moment provides you with the opportunity to build the foundations for a lifetime of fulfilled potential, whereas not being in the present moment restricts your life in many ways.

What doesn't make sense:

Living your life based on societies expectations.

It’s highly likely that who you think you are and what you stand for are not who you truly are, but is in fact who your parents, peers and society want you to be. Don’t you think it’s crazy that we become certain people and spend our lives chasing things that we are told are important, when the people who told us who we should be and what we should strive for were uninformed to begin with?

Each and every person begins life as a free spirit but slowly gets smothered and told ‘who to be’ by people who think they know what is right for us, when generally these people don’t even know what is right for themselves.

It is little wonder that so many people are currently living lives feeling void of meaning when you discover that each and every person’s true self has been smothered and confined to what society thinks it should be. You were born to be you, to express your unique inner drive. Allowing your life to be guided by external influences rather than your hearts true desires is the cause of any problem that you will ever encounter throughout your lifetime. You can do far better than this.

What does makes sense:

Giving your greatest self to the world.

If you want to live an extraordinary life, you must take the time to discover your greatest passions, strengths and values, and then use them to provide a meaningful service to society.  Discover who you are at your very essence. What are your deepest motivations and inspirations? What would you dream to do if you knew that you would not fail? What would your life look like if you knew nobody would judge you?

Taking the time to discover who you truly are and then giving that person to the world will be the difference between living a mediocre or a meaningful life. Discover what you love and begin immersing yourself in that thing as often as possible.

Fully express yourself to the world, regardless of the potential judgement of others. Don't hold back.

What doesn't make sense:

Being on a constant drive to be and acquire more.

Bigger, better, more. More wealth, more possessions, more power, more status. Greed and selfishness caused by insecurity and fear are slowly destroying our lives. You need only take a look at the global economy to notice this.

What does makes sense:

Following your heart.

Ask yourself, ‘Why do I work?’  Do you work to fulfill your purpose, help others and create greatness in this world? Or are you on a constant selfish quest to be bigger, better, have more and be more? If you are on a quest to have and be more, you will get to your deathbed and realize that you wasted the best years of your life searching for the best years of your life. Don’t wait until it’s too late to realize that the happiness that you were always striving for has always been within and readily available to you.

Without making this morbid, I ask you, if you were diagnosed with having a brain tumour, would you still continue to live the way that you are right now? Would making money seem so important to you? Would you care about having and being more? Would you care about impressing others? Or would you care more about expressing your authentic self and making a difference in the lives of others?

Begin embracing life now. With life so impermanent and limited by time, I implore you to stop avoiding the things that you really want to do. Live the life that your innermost self wants you to live. Follow the deep drive within you to fully express yourself in every aspect, and begin living a life that makes sense.
