Pro-Athlete Yogis Go Nude in ESPN's 2011 Body Issue
ESPN's annual 'Body Issue' recently came out, in which a number of professional athletes stripped down and posed naked. What's interesting about this year's group is that there are two yogis in the bunch -- and in an interesting twist, the issue inspired a nude Lululemon yoga ad.
But first... the professional athlete yogis!
Pro soccer star and yogi, Hope Solo, tells Nike about her yoga practice:
"As an athlete I like to keep my speed and my agility and that dynamic part of who I am. A lot of times, simple stretching takes away from your speed, so for me, dynamic yoga gives me the ability and empowers me to keep my speed and elongate my muscles. Several years ago, it wasn’t as popular for professional athletes to do. Now, you’ll find in this day and age, people are starting to realize it really benefits them on the field."
Whatever type of yoga she's practicing, it's working!
In an interesting twist, Vancouver Canucks hockey star, Ryan Kesler, also posed nude for the issue, and inspired a nude Lululemon ad. In a move of solidarity, Lululemon put out the below ad in which fellow Canadian and Lululemon ambassador, Jenn Thiel, bared all in the same exact pose. Yogis are loyal, too!
