If you want to help Haiti, one of the easiest and most effective ways to donate is by text message. In some instances, text message donations were received as soon as 90 minutes after the earthquake hit. Wyclef Jean (a native of Haiti) and his Yele Foundation starts with only $5 donations.
Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile have all dropped their text messaging fees on donations and American Express, Visa, and Mastercard are waving their typical percentage cut on these donations as well. Here are two ways to send text-based donations -- they are automatically billed to your phone:
Yele Haiti -- text "YELE" to 501501 ($5 donation)
Red Cross -- text "Haiti" to 90999 ($10 donation)
