There are many things in this world that can bring down our moods and leave us feeling drained and overwhelmed. That's where daily energy cleansing comes into play.

Here are five practical rituals I undertake to help purify my body from any unwanted stagnant energies.

1. Spend time in nature.

Nature is an extraordinarily powerful cleansing tool. Spending time in nature helps you unwind from the daily pressures of life, as Mother Earth possesses the enchanted ability to regulate the body's nervous system. Within a couple of minutes outdoors, your breath will start to deepen, your muscles will loosen, and your busy mind will begin to relax.

Standing barefoot heightens these benefits, as developing a physical connection to earth will ground you into your body. All you have to do is find a place where you can connect and allow her to do the rest. As you're standing, bring attention to your feet.

Notice how the earth feels. What textures, temperature, and sensations do you feel? As you focus on this connection, notice what happens to the rest of your body.

2. Burn white sage and palo santo

Smudging these natural elements is a brilliant way to clear your energy and heighten your sense of clarity and self-awareness. You can carry a piece of sage of palo santo in your bag and use it when you have a space that won't be agitated by smoke. Setting an intention before you smudge will help direct the cleansing process.

3. Connect with sound.

Charles Muir once said, "Sound is the best way to move energy." Using your voice to express any sensations in your body can be a transformative way to balance your inner energies. You can experiment with making various sounds and tones, like ohmm, ahhmm, ooooh, and ahhhh to find what resonates for you. One of my personal favorites is vommm. I've found that this sound tells the body to relax in the face of strong emotions. Just place your hands below your belly button and vommm.

Developing your relationship with sound can be a slow process. Be kind to yourself. The more you practice, the easier it becomes.

4. Move more mindfully.

Maintaining a regular exercise routine helps release positive endorphins throughout the body, increasing inner peace and reducing stress. Movement doesn't have to be strenuous. It can be as gradual as a 20-minute walk or yoga flow sequence.

To enhance the release of stored energy, be sure to move mindfully. Guiding awareness to the inside of your body brings your mind into the exercise. You can also support your movement by directing your breath to specific areas. Breathe into the tight area, then breathe out and imagine letting go of tension.

5. Cleanse yourself with water.

Water is the miracle cleanser that can be used internally and externally to purify your beautiful body. Drinking at least 1.5 liters of water a day helps hydrate your body and support organ function. Regularly sipping on water helps to flush out any toxins that your body does not need, supporting the elimination of any undesirable energy.

Have a shower. Water can really help you to clean any energetic debris you have collected from your environment. After a long day at work, there is nothing better than stepping into the water and letting go.
