Proof That Gigi Hadid Has Completely Nailed The Whole Wellness Thing
Gigi Hadid is our kind of girl. From magazine covers to billboards across the nation, the Victoria's Secret model is everywhere—making her an easy target for bullies and body shamers.
But Gigi doesn't let it get to her, and a lot of that has to do with her wellness practices. From her workout routine to her empowered female mindset, here are seven ways Gigi uses her healthy habits to be the strong woman she is:
1. She embraces her own body and shuts down body shamers.
When someone on Instagram claimed that she was "losing weight to fit in," Gigi didn't bat an eye before firing back, "I still eat what I want, I'm strong I'm still healthy. Your comment won't get me down, but next time, please think about the young women who may read body judgment comments and judge themselves as they see their body changes and growing and therefore naturally changing, too."
2. She found a workout she loves—and she does it consistently, for her mental health.
For Gigi, going to the gym and spending time on the treadmill just didn't cut it. The workout was a good one, but she didn't find it mentally stimulating. So she turned to boxing. "I needed to find something that was exercising my brain. For me, that was boxing, and it became my new sport," Gigi told SELF magazine.
3. She eats clean. Well, for the most part.
4. She makes sleep a priority.
5. She isn't afraid to stand up for herself.
Gigi has never questioned the importance of defending herself. "I've always been someone that stands up for myself. To the point where my publicist will say, 'Sometimes it's better to not say anything,'" Gigi told British Vogue. "And I'm like, 'The limelight means you're supposed to hide? And not stand your ground?' That doesn't make sense to me. What's the point of social media if you're only going to respond to things that make you look great; if you're not willing to stand up for yourself, people take advantage of that.”
6. She gives to charity.
7. She believes a little friendly competition never hurt anyone.
To keep her workouts interesting, Gigi has a bit of a competitive edge. "I'm an athlete and played volleyball all through high school, so working out is fun for me," Gigi tells Into the Gloss. "My trainer will tell me the women's records for different things at the gym, and I'll have to beat one by the end of the day."
