Some of our staples at THE PLANT include the vegan soups, salads, and of course, the Garden Burger. The soups change daily but are always vegan and always a good bet. We prefer the "Create your Own Salad" options to the pre-packaged salads. The salad topping options include SF staples such as "Pt. Reyes Blue Cheese" as well as gourmet fixings such as seasonal mangos and candied walnuts. One of the most popular items on the menu is the Veggie Burger: it's a hearty patty, which even the organic meat eaters here at MBG enjoyed. The Quinoa Bowl with veggies is also a tasty entre option, and a great way to get your dose of protein, fiber, and amino acids. For dessert, choose from an assortment of desserts made in-house. We love the chocolate brownie and the carrot cake.
On the weekends there's a full brunch menu, which includes everything from pancakes to Huevos Rancheros and bagels with salmon. THE PLANT is pretty packed on the weekends, so be prepared for a short wait before you enjoy your organic eggs benedict or acai berry protein smoothie.
THE PLANT has also recently opened a new location in Pier 3 on the Embarcadero, which we haven't yet visited. Hopefully, it continues the tradition of hearty, wholesome, organic food that doesn't break the recessionista's savings goals.
