Feeling beautiful, sensual, and confident is essential for my everyday experience—it gives me more power and magnetism to do my work in the world. Aphrodisiacs are passion potions I use to strengthen connection to my feminine energy, amplify my radiance and create more harmony in my love life. The logic is simple. Sexual energy is the highest form of transmutable energy. In other words, our sexual energy and creative energy are one and the same, and we have the ability to transfer our creative sexual energy into the other areas of our life—our wealth, happiness, love, health, and fulfillment.

Experiment with these aphrodisiac rituals to enhance your own libido and your creative power or simply for an extra dose of self-love.

Aromatic Essential Oils

There are many powerful essential oils that can be used as an aphrodisiac, enhancing sensuality, intimacy, and harmony between couples as well as inner beauty and balance. When choosing your essential oils, be sure to research the source. Certified-organic, sustainably harvested, therapeutic-grade essential oils are best, so you know exactly what you are putting on your body and how it was harvested. Essential oils are 50 to 75 percent more powerful than the herb or plant itself, so a little goes a long way.

Here are some of my favorites to use as aphrodisiacs:

  • Geranium
  • Sandalwood
  • Patchouli
  • Jasmine

These essential oils induce calmness, peace, happiness, and hold aphrodisiac properties that enhance romance and the libido. I love geranium for its exotic floral-spicy aroma—it's very beautifying and has such a sexy scent—both men and women are strongly attracted to it. Sandalwood is a woodsy scent and also smells very similar to the androsterone chemical (human pheromones), so it sends out very subtle, but effective, erotic signals to the opposite sex. Patchouli is another earthy scent and is great for promoting passion, sensuality, and union. These are three of the key ingredients in Grace Alchemy, my essential oil rollerball for everyday use. Word on the street is that this scent attracts your lover!

Jasmine oil is universally known as an aphrodisiac and is used in most perfumes. It has a rich floral scent and is amazing for your mood and energy. I use it in my Solar Sun Protect moisturizer, a sultry and sensual blend for creating a gorgeous glow all over your face and body—since it's high in vitamin A from the organic carrot oil base, it protects you from skin damage.

To create your own aphrodisiac aromatherapy ritual, apply your oil or blend of choice to your neck, temples, forehead, and wrists for social events, parties and date night. Add oils to your bath, light some candles and incense, and soak up the loving aromas in every cell.

Edible Aphrodisiacs

Natural aphrodisiac foods can promote healthy blood flow, improve the health of the sex organs, and help you feel more aroused and relaxed. Taste is also the sensory system connected with the second chakra, located in your sex organs. Curious to see if it works? Try incorporating more of these foods in your day for a tasty libido boost.

Some of the most common aphrodisiac foods are:

  • Almonds
  • Avocado
  • Bananas
  • Cacao
  • Cinnamon
  • Figs
  • Honey

I throw a half of a banana and a generous dash of cinnamon and honey in my morning smoothie for maximum effect. Bananas are packed with vitamin B and potassium, both of which are said to be important for sex hormone production, and raw honey contains boron, which may regulate hormone levels. You can also add in Moon Juice Sex Dust—a warming elixir that sends waves of sensitivity and power to all the right places.

I'm also obsessed with the Cacao Maca Truffles in my Thyroid Yoga Recipe Book: You Nourish You cookbook. Cacao is a mind-blowing superfood elixir, and maca is known as "nature's Viagra". Combined, these potent superfoods make for a passionate love potion.

Lingerie

What we choose to wear can be a powerful form of self-expression and can shape how we feel and how we project ourselves in the world. And what's more sexy than lingerie? It doesn't just have to be for date night—wear it underneath your work clothes, while running errands, or anytime you want to feel beautiful and divinely feminine.

My two favorite luxe eco-sustainable brands of lingerie are Stella McCartney and Ayten Gasson. Stella's lacy pieces are perfect from daily wear to date nights. Ayten's handmade silk makes me feel dreamy and luxurious, like I'm in an Audrey Hepburn movie.

Exercise

Breaking a sweat every day will increase blood circulation, regulate hormones, and spread pheromones—a perfect aphrodisiac ritual. I take a beach run every morning to amp up my energy and induce a healthy glow. My Thyroid Yoga sequence also contains a series of poses that will support your sustained health, vitality, and make you feel groovy all over. Frog pose and sat kriya, in particular, are known to work on the second chakra and on all three of the lower chakras to balance you. When these energy systems are grounded, you're able to show up as your best, most creative self!

Self-love is sexy

Perhaps the most important aphrodisiac ritual of all, self-love is key to making you feel good in your own skin. So much of what we see in the media and advertising tells us we aren't perfect without this or that product, keeping us trapped in insecurity, fear and neurosis. When you're feeling the opposite of positive, try repeating the mantra "I am the Love I seek, the beauty I seek, the truth I seek. I find myself in Love, beauty and truth."

These aphrodisiac rituals are a powerful way to connect to our intuition through the path of self-love. We're more grounded, happy, and effective in our work and relationships. It's truly revolutionary!
