In recent years, more women have been getting diagnosed with autoimmune diseases. In the clip below, Dr. Frank Lipman, an internationally known integrative medicine expert, founder and director of the Eleven Eleven Wellness Center, author of The New Health Rules, and long-standing member of the mbg family — he received mbg's first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award! — explains why that is, what the microbiome has to do with it, and what Western medicine gets wrong.

Frank is in conversation with Danielle Walker, bestselling author of Against All Grain. Danielle has been living with a gut-related autoimmune disease for years now and lends her to support to a whole community of people living with the same (and similar) diseases. Check out her latest book, Danielle Walker's Against All Grain Celebrations: A Year of Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Paleo Recipes for Every Occasion.

Find out more about where autoimmune diseases come from in Danielle and Frank's chat with mbg Executive Editor Olessa Pindak below.
