If you've got a sweet tooth, blogger Liz Moody from Sprouted Routes is your girl. Famous for her healthy makeovers of treats like milkshakes, chocolate cake and even cookie dough dip, Liz knows that nourishing yourself is all about balance: "I think food is the key to life. To nourish your body while eating things that make you smile is truly the best of both worlds."

Base recipe: Vanilla Chia Pudding

Ingredients

  • 4.5 cups plant-based milk of choice (canned coconut milk will be especially creamy, while more watery milks will give a watery result. My personal favorite is homemade coconut-cashew)
  • 3/4 cup dry chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 4 - 5 tablespoons maple syrup or sweetener of choice (to taste)

Preparation

1. Stir together all ingredients until chia seeds are well distributed.

Note: all recipes below are designed with 1/5 of above recipe in mind.

Day 1: Vanilla Chia Pudding

Today, we're going with the basic recipe, as listed above!

Beauty benefits: Chia is rich in omega-3s and other good fats, which are your skin's best friend. They're also sky-high in protein, which boosts hair and nails, and fiber, which helps cleanse your system of the sludge that dulls your glow. All of this makes it an awesome base for our beauty breakfasts!

Day 2: Pistachio Rose

Stir in 1 tsp rose water; crumble 1/4 cup shelled, raw pistachios on top. Drizzle with a bit of honey if desired.

Beauty benefits: Rose water is rich in flavonoids, antioxidants, tannins and vitamins A, C, D, and B3 — it acts as a natural relaxant and mood booster — a smile is the best way to be beautiful!

Day 3: Chocolate Covered Strawberry

Stir in 1 tbsp raw cacao powder. Top with sliced fresh strawberries.

Beauty benefits: Raw cacao is one of the richest sources of natural minerals, including manganese, which your skin and hair loves. Strawberries add an additional dose of vitamin C.

Day 4: Vitamin C Citrus Bomb

Stir in 1 tsp camu camu powder and zest of 1 orange. Top with bite-sized orange chunks.

Beauty benefits: Camu camu is one of the richest natural sources of collagen-stimulating vitamin C, and has a lovely citrus-y flavor. Orange zest helps boost your skin's natural sun protectant qualities.

Day 5: Raspberry Almond Butter

Gently swirl through 1 tsp almond butter and 3/4 cups of frozen raspberries.

Beauty benefits: Almond butter provides vitamin E, which helps nourish and moisturize your skin from the inside out. Raspberries are one of nature's best sources of fiber, which helps clean out your system, helping boost your glow!
