Credited with getting a postpartum Heidi Klum ready for the Victoria's Secret lingerie runway show in record time, David is the man that many celebrities and New York's men and women train with when they need to get in shape fast.
MindBodyGreen: If someone wants to start off January with a change in their diet, what's the first thing they should do?
David Kirsch: Throw out the cookies!!!
MBG: How do you advise your clients regarding snacks?
DK: Limit snacking to when it is really necessary. Try to pick healthy snacks such as almonds, walnuts, protein shakes, and fruit like apples or pears.
MBG: What is the biggest key to success in losing weight and maintaining weight loss?
DK: The biggest key is setting realistic goals, mapping out a good course of action, and accepting that it may not always be perfect...but when you fall off course, you have to get right back on!
MBG: Are there any facts about nutrition/diet/fitness that many people don't know about or overlook?
DK: In diet, you need to be sure you are eating enough food with proper nutrients. Fasting is counterproductive to one's overall wellness.
MBG: What's the easiest thing we can do immediately to be healthier?
DK: Start moving your body!
MBG: Tips for great abs?
DK: Reduce the amount of dairy, saturated fat, sugars and processed carbs. Increase your cardio to no less than 45 minutes 4 times a week.
MBG: How does your training differ when you train celebrity clients?
DK: My celebrity clients are no different than my other clients. Their biggest issue is time. They have a specific time they need to achieve their goals by.
MBG: What does mind/body wellness mean to you?
DK: It is utilizing your brain in everything you do. Being mindful of everything in your life...work, play relationships. Mindful in what you eat, why and when you exercise. Being present every moment of the day.
