Starbucks Is Holding Out On Us With These Healthy 'Secret Menu' Options
Starbucks may be known for coffee—and its not-so-healthy version of it that rhymes with slappuccino—but its "secret menu" has been stealing the spotlight lately, especially on Instagram. The drinks are not only eye-catching; they're also pretty healthy.
First, the "Pink Drink," an vibrantly colored off-menu concoction of Starbucks' Strawberry Acai Refresher, coconut milk (instead of water), and chunks of strawberry, took social media by storm.
And now, apparently, purple is the new pink. Starbucks' "Purple Drink" (not to be confused with "purple drank" aka "sizzurp") is now all the Insta-rage. This Grimace-colored beverage is a mixture of Teavana Shaken Iced Passion Tango Tea, soy milk, vanilla syrup, and blackberries. To make it even healthier, you can ask them to go light on or cut out the syrup.
But even though it feels cool and insidery to order off the so-called secret menu, the truth is, if you want something off-menu, you can invent it yourself. It doesn't have to be approved by the secret menu powers that be. The baristas are always more than happy to help you customize a beverage any which way you want it. If you want to avoid dairy, they've got coconut milk for you. If you want subtle sweetness without all that sugary syrup—plus a dose of antioxidants—they'll gladly toss in some berries for you.
But we love to see how customers get creative at Starbucks on Instagram. What's next? How about ... the "Red Drink," made of Starbucks' Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher, soy milk, and whole raspberries? I'm calling it.
