The Balanced Blonde's Jordan Younger Shares Her Favorite Healthy Eateries In NYC & LA
Jordan Younger, otherwise known as the Balanced Blonde, is a former vegan who now teaches, well, balance through her popular blog and book, Breaking Vegan. She's a self-professed wellness junkie who's all about encouraging others to find the sweet spot where healthy meets happy.
A California native, Jordan lived in New York for a few years before returning to her roots in LA. On a recent visit to our offices in Brooklyn, Jordan shared with us her favorite fresh and delicious eats on both coasts.

I love the almond milk latte, which I used to get all the time before I stopped drinking coffee. They have some of my favorite smoothies, like the vanilla protein with kale and spinach, the Green Light, which I got this morning, with no dates and one banana—I'm very particular.

I'm hosting my book signing here. Jamie, the owner, is a close friend of mine; she game me a lot of support when I was transitioning from veganism. She gave me a lot of advice because she had done the same transition years ago. And I just love her food. It's across the street from Moto Yoga, which is my spot.

My mom and I discovered this place before I moved here years ago while I was apartment hunting. I was vegan back then. I was like, oh my god vegan food THIS good—that's crazy. New York is so good for healthy food; it's almost better than LA in some ways, really.

It's amazing; it's a great restaurant for people in a group—because there's something for the plant-based vegan, the non-vegan, the Paleo person.

They have a couple of different locations; there's a good one in Santa Monica. This is another good one for a group because they have meat but also a lot of great veggie dishes.

It's great; it's the Mexican version of Cafe Gratitude. The have a cool bar and, generally, just a cool vibe and atmosphere—which is different from most vegan restaurants.

Favorite Easy Meal to Make at Home?
If can get it together on a Sunday to make a big batch of black beans or rice, I'll have that with coconut-oil-sautéed vegetables, topped with different sauces from the farmers market—like sriracha or a bean dip. It's so good. I also always throw together green smoothies, of course; it's so easy.
The way I eat sounds so vegan, but it's not! It's just my preference most of the time.
