31 Days of Wellness, Day 1: Set 3-5 Practical and Actionable Goals

As the saying goes, today is the first day of the rest of your life. Perhaps this adage has become too cliché, so consider this instead: today is the first day of 2010! A great way to start off the New Year is to establish a few practical and actionable goals. Yes, goals -- not resolutions.

Do you know why New Year's resolutions never work? It is because they are often lofty and unreasonable, and thus are doomed for failure from the start. The key to successful goal setting is two-fold:

  1. make sure the goals are practical and actionable
  2. develop a step-by-step plan to achieve your goals
