My Yoga Practice Playlist: Andrea Marcum

For the longest time, I didn't use any music at all in my classroom. I found myself shouting like a coach and competing with the vocalists as I tried to instruct, or playing things so low they sounded like the annoying music you hear from someone else’s headphones. The washy sounds of the ambient music I now use may not be found on the pop charts, but it’s delicious to weave into the asana and deepen the visceral experience of the flow. To me, the perfect infusion of music into a yoga practice does not distract, instead it transports us further towards the divine.
