Pamela Anderson Posts Nude Photo To Celebrate Being Cured Of Hepatitis C
Because how else would she celebrate?
The 48-year-old actress and activist said that she'd been cured of Hepatitis C, the viral liver disease she contracted 16 years ago after sharing a tattoo needle with ex-husband Tommy Lee.
While some of us may have mass-texted our friends or posted a status to Facebook, the former Baywatch beauty pulled the most Pam Anderson move possible: On Sunday, she posted a nude photo to Instagram of herself blissfully laughing on a yacht.
Anderson first went public in 2002 with news that she had contracted the disease. Then, after other treatments failed, she tried a new course of FDA-approved drugs — and it looks like they worked.
The disease — which has no vaccine as of right now — can lead to cirrhosis or liver cancer, but with these new treatments, she told People, "I don't have any liver damage and I don't have any side effects. I'm living my life the way I want to but it could have eventually have caused me some problems and so it was a real blessing that I was able to get the medicine" — which, unfortunately, is currently very pricey.
Hopefully, the price of the drug will go down over time, but in the meantime, we're glad that after 16 years with the disease, she's finally free from its burden. We definitely don't blame her for wanting to bask bare-bodied in the sun.
