Zendaya Calls Out Magazine For Photoshopping Her & Promoting Unrealistic Beauty Standards
Don't ever disrespect Zendaya. You'll never get away with it.
The 19-year-old actress went to Puerto Vallarta earlier this month to shoot a cover for Modeliste magazine. Everything was going according to plan until she saw the final product: a heavily photoshopped picture of herself.
Needless to say, she wasn't happy.
So, in typical Zendaya don't-you-dare fashion, she called out the magazine on Instagram by sharing the edited photo alongside an unretouched version of it, as soon as she realized her "19-year-old hips and torso" were "misrepresented."
She said she was “shocked” to find her hips manipulated to half their original size. "These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have."
Zendaya explained that she posted the before-and-after picture because she stands for "honest and pure self love." She then thanked Modeliste for pulling down the image and reversing the problematic editing.
Thank you, Zendaya, for always standing up for not only yourself but also those without as loud a voice.
