Every parent's worst nightmare is to lose his or her child, so it's no surprise the world is feeling for Amber Shoemake right now. Her six year old son, Leland, passed away last Friday from an amoebic infection in his brain. He had reportedly been in the hospital for the past two weeks.
When his parents, Amber and Tim, returned to their house to pick out clothes for his funeral, they found a thoughtful note from their son: "Stil [sic] with you. Thank you mom and dad, love."
The couple was in shock upon finding the note and shared it with their "Prayers for Leland" Facebook page, which they had set up to update friends and family on Leland's progress. Amber wrote, "He was the light of our life and the center of this family... When Tim and I came home for the first time to get him clothes to be buried in, this is the note we found from him on the table in the living room. We have no idea when he wrote it, but you can tell he was always a special child. We will love you forever Leland."
