Why You Should Be Using Pomegranates For Better Skin + How To Do It

The world's oldest system of medicine, Ayurveda, believes pomegranates are the ideal fruit for maintaining optimal mind-body balance, and practitioners have been using it for traditional remedies for thousands of years. So why not try your hand at making your own pomegranate skin care? Here's how.

Rejuvenating Pomegranate Face Mask


  • 1 tablespoon crushed pomegranate seeds
  • 2-3 tablespoons organic, plain yogurt


Combine both ingredients in a small bowl and then apply to clean skin. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Follow with your favorite toner and moisturizer.

As with any new skin care products, test a small patch of your skin for reaction before applying everywhere. And remember: the best skincare regimen should always include daily use of a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15.

Soothing Pomegranate Body Oil

The ingredients in both of these recipes can be found in health stores or online.


  • 3 tablespoons pomegranate seed oil
  • 1 tablespoon rosehip seed oil
  • 3 drops bergamot essential oil
  • 5 drops roman chamomile essential oil
  • 2 drops ylang ylang essential oil


Combine all the essential oils in a bowl. Then add the remaining seed oils, pour into a bottle and shake well before use. The oil will soak into your skin even more if used after a shower or bath when you skin is damp. You can also use the oil on cuticles to soften and moisturize.
