How To Get Glowing, Tan Skin Naturally (No Sun Necessary!)

To keep that rosy, summer glow through the fall and winter, try these two DIY treatments ... no sun necessary!

Gentle Pre-Tanner Exfoliator

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sugar*
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 drops ylang ylang essential oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E

Preparation

Combine ingredients, then gently massage onto any areas you plan to apply the "self-tanner." Pay special attention to dry patched of skin like elbows, knees and heels. Rinse off with water. The tanner will adhere much better to smooth, moisturized skin.

*Sugar can be substituted with Dead Sea salt (avoid use on face). If you have sensitive skin, perform a skin patch test.

All-Natural Self-Tanner

Ingredients

  • 1/2 ounce of jojoba oil
  • 1/2 ounce coconut oil
  • 3 drops vanilla extract
  • 2 drops sandalwood essential oil
  • 800 IU vitamin E
  • 1 teaspoon mineral shimmer powder
  • spray bottle

Preparation

Remember to exfoliate your skin first! Once that's done, it's a good idea to moisturize your skin so the tanner adheres. Once your skin is primed, mix all the ingredients together in the spray bottle and get to spraying. Make sure to evenly rub it into your skin after spritzing, then let it dry. For a deeper color, apply more layers.
