Taco Bell & Pizza Hut Are Cutting Fake Ingredients From Their Food
Clearly feeling the pressure to head in a healthier direction, as chains like Chipotle, McDonald's, and Panera already have, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut (owned by Yum! Brands) have announced plans to cut fake ingredients from their food by the end of this year.
So, as reported by the AP, Taco Bell will use actual black pepper in its seasoned beef instead of "black pepper flavor."
Taco Bell has also said that it will stop using unsustainable palm oil. They'll remove artificial colors, artificial flavors, and added trans fats from their menu "where possible" by 2017.
As for Pizza Hut, the chain said it has already eliminated artificial trans fats and MSG, and reduced the sodium in its pizza. All of its fake fillers will be gone by the end of July.
What do you think? Is this a meaningful step in the right direction?
