Meditation Changes Brain Structure in Just 8 Weeks

A new study shows that after just 8 weeks of mindfulness meditation, the brain changes in structure, making "measurable changes in brain regions associated with memory, sense of self, empathy and stress."

The scientists took MRI images of the 16 participants before and after the 8-week study, as well as images from a control group of non-meditators over a similar time period, and found some pretty amazing stuff in the comparison of the two groups:
