Oprah Winfrey's new OWN Network launched on Saturday -- did you catch it? I watched her preview special and though I think some of the shows look great, I was disappointed that there didn't seem to be any programming that was health or wellness related. The one food show, Big Bowl of Love, looked like it had nothing to do with eating healthy, organic, or plant-based. There didn't appear to be any fitness-related programming either.
At any rate, there are definitely some shows worth checking out, and I have high hopes for OWN.
Here are my thoughts on some of the lineup:
Master Class - An interview series spotlighting celebrities like Jay-Z, Simon Cowell, and Diane Sawyer. It seems like Iconoclasts meets Charlie Rose. Of the bunch, this is probably the show I'm most looking forward to.
In the Bedroom With Dr. Laura Berman - The sex relationship expert brings her mojo to Oprah. This could go Maury Povich-style or it could be just what the love doctor ordered.
Enough Already! with Peter Walsh - Decluttering expert Peter Walsh gets to the bottom of people's issues with clutter. I was a bit disappointed by the preview as it showed a few uber-extreme cases of unlivable conditions. I'm hoping they steer this show back with more applicable examples of decluttering that most of us can relate to.
Your OWN Show - Basically Oprah's version of The Apprentice, except you get to host your own show on OWN.
Ryan and Tatum - Follows Ryan and Tatum O'Neal as they attempt to repair their broken father/daughter relationship. If these two can do it, then anyone can.
Finding Sarah - Cameras follow around The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, as she works with Oprah faves like Dr. Phil to get her self-esteem back.
Our America with Lisa Ling - Investigative journalist travels across America and tackles controversial subjects in this documentary style show. This could be great.
And then there's The Gayle King Show, which chronicles Gayle's daily radio show. Pretty self-explanatory.
Did you watch? What do you think?
