3 DIY Herbal Deodorants That Definitely Don't Stink Hero Image

A great, gentle, delicious-smelling all-natural deodorant is the holy grail of green beauty gets. So instead of wasting your time and money searching for the right one on a shelf, why not take to your kitchen and get to DIY-ing? These three recipes are all variations on one another; they start with the same herb and plant bases, and then you can play around the essential oils depending on your scent preference.

SAGE & LAVENDER DEODORANT

A floral scent that women may prefer.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons dried sage
  • 2 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons witch hazel
  • 3 teaspoons fresh cleavers (2 teaspoons dried)
  • 1 tablespoon vodka
  • 1 teaspoons benzoin tincture (Friar's Balsam)
  • 5 drops sage
  • 5 drops lavender
  • 2-ounce spray bottle

Makes & Keeps: Makes almost ¼ cup. Keeps 3—6 months.

Preparation

Let the sage infuse in the witch hazel for two weeks, and the cleavers infuse in the vodka for two weeks. Strain and press both, then combine. Add all the other ingredients and mix in a bottle with a spray top. Shake well. Shake before use and use as a normal deodorant.

CITRUS FRESH DEODORANT

A fresh smell that men may prefer.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoon dried sage

  • 1 tablespoon vodka

  • 5 drops tangerine
